Most agencies have a "training officer" or training division. This is not that, although we do compliment it!
We give you everything you need to implement a standardized, transparent, effective field training / mentorship program at your agency. This is NOT a subscription program.
This is not about being kinder, gentler, softer or “woke." It's about getting the best out of each and every new hire, in an environment where men and women who want to work in this profession are increasingly valuable commodities.
Those responsible for training your new firefighters and EMS personnel are gatekeepers of your organization, moving the needle on department culture in a way that company and chief officers simply cannot. In today's fire service, we typically rely on pure luck. A burnt-out firefighter or medic with fairly low seniority often gets "volun-told" to train a new hire.
Even if a formal program exists on paper, those working in the trenches are throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks – with potentially disastrous results. The risk management portion of our class covers everything from DEI to more obscure issues like negligent retention or entrustment.
